Gateside, a village in Neilston parish, Renfrewshire, on the left side of Levern Water, and on the Glasgow and Neilston railway, 1¼ mile WSW of the centre of Barrhead. One of the cluster of seats of manufacture, all popularly called Barrhead, it had a cotton factory so early as 1786. Pop. (l861) 455, (1871) 399, (1881) 465.
