Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Salisbury Plain

Salisbury Plain, undulating tract, Wilts, extending W. from E. border of co. to Westbury and Warminster, and from the Vale of Pewsey 10 miles S. to vicinity of Salisbury; has an average height of 400 ft., and rises to a height of 775 ft. on Westbury Down. The Druidical circle of Stonehenge is in the plain, 6 miles N. of Salisbury.
