Ballater, vil. with ry. sta., Glenmuick par., SW. Aberdeenshire, 43½ miles SW. of Aberdeen by rail and 572 from London, pop. 759; P.O., T.O., 3 Banks. It is much resorted to in the summer months on account of its bracing air, the vil. having an alt. of 668 ft. To the N. of the vil. is a precipitous chasm called The Pass of Ballater.
