Kearsley.-- town, township, and eccl. dist., Deane par., SE. Lancashire, 4 miles SE. of Bolton-eccl. dist. (Kearsley Moor), pop. 2628; town and township, 997 ac., pop. 7253; P.O. at Kearsley Moor; has the Kearsley Paper Mills and large coal mines. At Kearsley Moss large quantities of bog oak have been found.
