Denholm, vil., 5 miles NE. of Hawick, Roxburghshire, pop. 592; P.O., T.O.; an ancient place, burnt by Hertford in 1545. D. was the birthplace of John Leyden (1775-1811), scholar and poet. To the W. is a deep wooded dell called Denholm Dean.
