LLANDYFRIOG, a parish in Newcastle-in-Emlyn district, Cardigan; on the river Teifi, 2 miles ENE-of Newcastle-Emlyn r. station. It contains the township of Adpar, and the villages of Aber and Penddol; and its Post town is Newcastle-Emlyn, under Carmarthen. Acres, 2,867. Real property, £2,647. Pop. in 1851, 959; in 1861,807. Houses, 202. The decrease of pop. arose partly from the closing of a boarding-school. The property is much divided. The living is a vicarage, united with the rectory of Llanfair-Trelygen, in the diocese of St. David's. Value, £147.* Patron, the Bishop of St. David's. The church is dedicated to St. Tyvriog, and is good.
