Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for NEWBURY, or Knowbury

NEWBURY, or Knowbury, a coal-field in the S of Salop; in Titterstone-Clee-Hill, 4¼ miles E of Ludlow. It is ½ a mile long; and has several strata of ironstone, clay, and limestone, overlaid with basalt.
