In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Worth like this:
WORTH, a township in Prestbury parish, Cheshire; 6 miles SE of Stockport. Acres, 450. Real property, £6,083; of which £4,330 are in mines. Pop. in 1851, 885; in 1861, 751. Houses, 147. The decrease of pop. was caused by decrease of employment collieries.
The location is that of Worth Hall.
