In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Perry Street like this:
PERRY-STREET, a village in Northfleet parish, Kent; near the North Kent railway, 1¼ mile S W of Gravesend. It has a post-office under Gravesend, a national school, and a. large British school; and the last isused as an Independent place of worship.
