In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Cappoquin like this:
Cappoquin, town with ry. sta., Lismore and Mocollop par., W. co. Waterford, on river Blackwater, 151 miles SW. of Dublin by rail, pop. 1555; P.O., T.O.; has an extensive waggon and wheel factory. The river is navigable hence to Youghal Harbour. Cappoquin House is in vicinity.
